Selling Out the Disney Theater at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts

After 21 years of elevating awareness of the impact that type 1 diabetes has on nearly 1.25 million American children and adults, the central Florida nonprofit – Touched by Type 1 – is on target to sell out the 2,700 seat Disney Theater for their 21st anniversary Dancing for Diabetes showcase to be held on Saturday, November 13th at 7pm at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

The annual Dancing for Diabetes showcase features over 300 award-winning and nationally recognized dancers creating an evening of entertainment and hope. VIP sponsorship packages are available and individual tickets start at only $15.  The show has raised well over half a million dollars for type 1 diabetes research which goes to various well-vetted organizations such as the Diabetes Research Institute in Miami, Florida. Proceeds from the 21st Anniversary event will go to the Diabetes Research Institute and Touched by Type 1.

Elizabeth Forrest, Founder of Touched by Type 1 and Producer of the annual Dancing for Diabetes showcase says, “Year-round we are providing resources, materials, events and programs that are meeting the needs of people with Type 1 Diabetes, not just in our own community but beyond.” she continues,

“I have seen a lot and I have gone through a lot over the last 2 decades with this disease and connecting with others who are connected to Type 1 Diabetes has been inspiring: it keeps me motivated to continue to want to do and give to so many connected to this disease because I know firsthand how horrible, scary, and terrifying it can be. And I want to do everything I can to make sure that all others touched by Type 1 Diabetes have the most positive experience. None of us wanted this disease or chose this path, but we can all choose how we move forward and how we can impact ourselves and those around us.”
